  1. It was named Mackay's Memoirs after reading Dr Mackay's medical and personal journals written during his post as Free Church of Scotland missionary general practitioner in Moyobamba, Peru. The piece opens with Psalm and features the pipes of both countries, along with voices, clarsach and the classical orchestra.

  2. Mackay's Memoirs was written to commemorate the Broughton High School Centenary, and in honour of the late Dr Kenneth A Mackay of Badenoch. It was performed at the opening ceremony of the New Scottish Parliament Barcode and Other Identifiers Matrix / Runout: MBMMСD

The CD itself was launched by Dr Margaret Bennett who spoke movingly about what Bethesda as well as this project meant to her son Martyn, Margaret also presented a cheque to the Matron of Bethesda [hear audio extract] which had originally been kindly presented to myself by The Martyn Bennett Trust way back in Edinburgh at the first Concert in his memory in April
